INDIGO CHILDREN’S FUND
2021 END OF YEAR REVIEW

PROJECTS COMPLETED THIS YEAR

Child Development Centre, Cagayan De Oro, The Philippines.

This centre will provide much needed space; not only for the 70 young women of our children’s village in CDO, focused on safe housing and rehabilitation of young victims of the sex trade, but also for 750 children from the surrounding, deeply underprivileged community.

Kids in need of psycho-social services such as counselling and psychotherapy will be treated at the centre, children with all kinds of needs ranging from social, educational, medical and legal/paralegal needs will be provided assistance at the centre.

BURMESE MIGRANT SCHOOL, MAE SOT, THAILAND

A new bright, airy and functional school for around 100 deeply underprivileged Burmese migrant children of the area.

Working with architects from Building Trust International we came up with a unique design that the kids and the teachers love.

It is built in such a way that, if the student numbers grow, new classrooms can be easily added.

VARIN SCHOOL SIEM REAP PROVINCE CAMBODIA

A new primary school for over 100 deeply underprivileged children of the Srae Nouy Commune, Varin District, Cambodia.

A unique building for the area with the colour schemes chosen by the children.

The area surrounding the school will be lush grass after rainy season for the kids to play.

PAUL SWEET NURSERY, MAE SOT, THAILAND

A new nursery to replace a rotten, unsafe and highly impractical building for the deeply underprivileged Burmese migrant kids of the area.

We broke ground on this project in August 2021 and officially signed off the completed building on November 17th 2021, due to lock-downs there is delay in opening, we hope to have the kids in very soon.

A safe, happy and fun environment for children to learn and play for decades to come.

The Economist Charitable Trust.

For the third year running we applied for the Economist grant and won. We receive by far the largest grants compared to other applicants, this year we were awarded £17,524. Other applicants received approximately 2k.

THE FALKEN HOTEL, SWITZERLAND.

The Falken donated the proceeds of their annual NYE ball to us, 13,000CHF. Something they intend to do every year for us, although sadly this coming NYE ball is cancelled due to Covid.

LAST NIGHT A DJ CHARITY

The DJ community continues to support the girls in our Safe Village in CDO.

They provided funds to buy guitars, keyboards and sound systems along with money for local music lessons.

They also paid for the girls to visit a theme park on Christmas Eve, the girls have never experienced anything like it and it was an amazing day for them all.

COMING IN Q1 2022

In early 2022 we will be breaking ground on 3 new schools in rural Cambodia using eco friendly materials, we are currently consulting with the communities on final designs, but these are the options so far:

Project for approval.
MAE SOT, THAILAND.

Budget £80k (+/- 2k pending final design decisions)

Mae Sot, sits on the border of Burma. Due to military control the situation in Burma is deeply worrying and frightening for certain ethnic minority groups.

Many people flee into Thailand for safe refuge and are looked after in refugee camps. This is a community that we have served with a number of our previous projects.

Whilst the families are relatively safe, education is often not available and the children that spend their days in the camps are missing out on learning.

A new large school is required for Burmese migrant primary school children in the area. It needs 11 classrooms, an office, wash facilities and play area. The actual academic side of things has already been running, but they are in great need of a new building.

As you can see we have designed a school accordingly. It will be a highly functional, well lit and ventilated building that will make a huge difference to hundreds of primary school aged children, many of whom have been through unimaginable situations.

We are now in a position to move forward and if the ICF board is happy we could break ground as early as January. We would be working with our trusted team in the area with whom we have a great and successful relationship.
