PROJECTS UNDER CONSTRUCTION
The New Road School, Mae Sot, Thailand.
The New Road School in Mae Sot Thailand is going to provide a much needed safe space to learn for over 300 Burmese migrant children.
We should complete construction in late August. Meaning the kids can finally get out of their makeshift structure.
CONTAINER SCHOOLS, CHORM PRAOUP AND OKOK CAMBODIA.
Our container schools are the first time we have worked in this way. It hasn’t been without complications, but now we have the system in place and the knowledge this could be a very big part of our future project pipeline.
We are not quite finished yet, but the containers are in place and ready to be painted, we have solar panels installed and already the kids and community are using them as a hub for education (and charging phones!).
The school in Chorm Praoup has had a huge impact on the community, it’s an isolated village that has never had a road, we built one in order to get the truck in with the container. They now have far more options for trade and interaction with other communities.
POPEL
Our new school in Popel has been delayed slightly while we were working on contracts and tenders, we should have everything tied up by next week and then we will break ground. A school that will have over 180 children in attendance.

SITE VISITS
THE PAUL SWEET NURSERY
The Paul Sweet Nursery is an absolute pleasure to visit, the children are so happy and proud of their building, it has attracted many more children who previously would not have entered into education. The number of kids grows all the time (up 40%) and we have already extended the structure to accommodate.
THE MORNING SCHOOL, MAE SOT
The Morning School in Mae Sot is a bright and highly functional building, ever inch is put to use. It is one of the first schools in the are that will take older Burmese children and put them through the equivalent of high school education. Currently there are around 200 children in attendance (and about 30 dogs!).
THE PHUKET SCHOOL
The Phuket School goes from strength to strength and it is always incredibly busy with not only day to day schooling but also many community outreach projects. The school benefits hugely from visiting volunteers, they are in need of further support for a nursery building (outlined in the next section).
PROJECTS FOR CONSIDERATION
KOTO
KOTO is currently in the process of refurbishing its new state-of-the-art restaurant in Hanoi, Vietnam. The new establishment brings together KOTO’s various offerings all under one roof, featuring 6 floors with a 200-person seating capacity, a rooftop cocktail bar, a coffee shop, a bakery and a store to showcase and sell products from Vietnamese Social Enterprises.
The new restaurant will allow KOTO Enterprises to generate increased revenue, which will be used to support the KOTO Foundation. The KOTO Foundation provides free holistic hospitality vocational training to disadvantaged youth from across Vietnam, and all profit generated is used to support KOTO trainees' education, health and well-being whilst they are studying at KOTO. This new restaurant also acts as a practical training restaurant, where KOTO trainees apply their skills in a real-life setting.
KOTO is currently in the process of completing the first phase of refurbishment, costing approximately £85,000, which includes all of the restaurant features excluding the rooftop cocktail bar. For this first phase, KOTO has a shortfall in funding to fully cover the refurbishment and is seeking the sum of £40,000 to contribute towards the project.
THE RESTAURANT CURRENTLY TURNS OVER 100 PEOPLE AWAY PER DAY.
The new building has a far bigger capacity and will help KOTO finally reach sustainability
Yesterday they had the KOTO graduation day, 62 students now fully trained and heading for full time carers. During lockdown Jimmy and the team faced a lot of difficulties with no income from their restaurants, amazingly 50% of their running costs were donated to them by previous students who have their jobs because of KOTO.
