PROJECT PROPOSAL
A new school for over 300 Burmese migrant children on the Thai/Burma border in Mae Sot, Thailand
THE KIDS HELPING OUT THE BUILDING OF THE PREVIOUS SCHOOL
The children of this rural area are deeply underprivileged and many have escaped unimaginable horrors across the border.
Education here is vital and plays a huge role in giving these kids a better start in life.
In actual fact our engineer arrived as a child in Mae Sot having crossed the border from Burma with no education or money. He went through a school similar to those that we build and now has a great business and reputation locally and has worked on the majority of our projects.
This particular community previously built a small school, but have very much outgrown it and are in need of something bigger and more secure in a different location.
We have secured land and the community is very much behind this project and getting involved once again with the build, they have even starting prepping the land and ground works in the hope of support (as always absolutely no guarantees given from our side).
THE COMMUNITY KIDS
The school will serve 300 students, but as with the majority of our buildings we have factored in future growth in the structural design.
We would be working once again with our trusted design partners and engineers.
As with our other projects in the area the building will be light, bright and airy and as always designed with community consultation and feedback.
We can begin construction right away and in fact share resources with another project that I am working on in the area.
All of our other projects in Mae Sot have been such a great success and inspirational to the communities and the students, I would love to continue this and feel this project is a great fit for ICF.
The total budget is £75,000
The running costs will be covered by an organisation called the Burmease Migrant Comittee with whom we have worked many times.
