GIRLS DEVELOPMENT CENTRE
This centre will provide much-needed space not only for the 52 young women of our children’s village in CDO, but also for 750 children from the community slum areas. The centre will be focused on counselling, rehabilitation and vocational training.
Many of these young girls have been through unimaginable horrors at the hands of sex-traffickers, kidnappers and domestic abusers.
Kids in need of psycho-social services such as counselling, trauma-/psychotherapy will be treated at the centre, children with all kinds of needs ranging from social, educational, medical and legal/paralegal needs will seek assistance at the centre.
The next step in helping these incredibly brave young women move on to happier futures.
In the centre workshops and conferences focused on child protection will be facilitated and volunteers and guests, serving the cause for the children will be staying there.
We will have a dedicated area for the already existing multipurpose cooperative including such services as coffee shop, grocery store, bakery and beauty parlour which will help to alleviate the reliance of foreign funds and support sustainability.
