A new primary school for the deeply underprivileged children of the Srae Nouy Commune, Varin District, Cambodia.
The children currently attend an existing school 80km from Siem Reap which has 90 students and 4 teachers. We plan to build a brand new school that will vastly improve the day to day lives of the students and teachers.
The existing school building
Our basic idea is to try and keep the building simple, but build a large roof that can provide space for outdoor learning and covered play.
We also want to try and build in flexibility for the school to adapt and grow within the space easily adding classrooms as they grow and need more space.
We will be discussing these plans further with the villagers and the school community in the coming weeks. We aim to break ground on this project in October 2020
